A local browser tool can be useful when you want a small job-specific workspace without another account. The trade-off is that you are responsible for the files you keep. Here is a practical routine to use with our downloadable tools.
Separate the tool from your records
Keep the original ZIP and extracted tool in one folder. At the end of a work session, export a JSON backup to a different folder you already back up. Name it with the product and date. CSV is useful for reading or analysis; in our products, JSON is the restore format.
Check restoration before depending on it
Create one fictional entry, export it, then restore that backup and compare the fields. Do this before entering important information. Device saving is convenient but can disappear after browser cleanup or moving files.
Use minimal personal information
A project nickname often works better than a client’s full personal details. Keep backups private and avoid putting shared-business data on a public computer. A downloadable tool is not automatically an encrypted vault.
Our project desk and Japanese practice companion use the same backup pattern. They do not provide cloud sync or multi-user collaboration. This article promotes our own products; it contains no paid third-party referral links.
